Dear collectors,
i recently found what i believe is a 1790/1815 italian folding globe, it is a small size globe made by 6 gores. The globe is folding and is held by laces, every gore has one lace at the top and one at the end, if you pull the strings the globe inflates.
Could you help me on understanding who was the cartoghrapher of it?
If needed i’ll be happy on sending a scan.

Dear collectors,
I am a graduate student in design criticism at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. I’m researching an object that I believe is an A.J. Nystrom Graphic Project Globe from the mid 20th century. I’m wondering if anyone has information on this type of globe, particularly how it might have been used by military students, and if anyone has an image of a complete Graphic Project Globe label.

Hi All,
I’ve had this for a while but have not been able to find ANY information on it. Its a beautiful piece and the lamp still works. The metal surroundings are hollow brass, and the base pieces are solid wood. Between two pieces on the base it says Italy
The writing on the globe is italian and written sloppy(I’ll post pictures later). The globe is very old world style with tigers in asia, mermaids and seamonsters in the sea, unicorns in Antarctica… it all appears to be hand colored
Obviously this is not as old as the globe would imply. I originally thought 1950s-70s? and copied an original map, but have had no luck finding information.
Any info would be much appreciated! Enjoy!

I have a Hammond 16″ physical globe from the 30’s with cast iron full ring meridian on a mahogany Duncan Phyfe style tripod stand with brass paw sabots. It has been in my basement for years and I would like to sell it. It is not in perfect condition and I don’t know how globes are rated. I live in Northern California. If anyone has any information as to the value or where I could take it to have it appraised, I would appreciate it.
I am looking for 2 globes, one with the USSR, and one After the breakup of the USSR.

I have a globe that is 41″ tall and 27″ inches wide made by George F. Cram. There is a plate on it that says The Saturday Evening Post Dec.4,1926 Santa at the globe. It also comes with a poster with Santa and a globe on it that goes with the globe. I don’t know what its worth. Could someone give me an idea? Can send pictures if needed.I also may be willing to sell it if someone is interested.

Hi, I wonder if there is a globe expert out there that can help me with my research? I have been looking at brass meridians on various old globes (typically pre 1750ish) and have a question about the graduation notation.
None seem to denote from zero at the equator to 90 at the poles ie CW from N 90-0, 0-90, 90-0, 0-90
Some are marked CW from N 0-90, 90-0, 0-90, 90-0 others CW from N 0-90, 90-0, 90-0, 0-90
And there are other variations on the theme.
Any insight would be very helpful.
Maybe I’ll find help here…I am looking for an antique globe which is beautiful and in great condition to give my fiancé on the day of our wedding. How do I know which globe is good value? Where do I start?
